Abstract
In order to shed light on the issues involved in the relationship between theory and reality, this article intends, through critical observations of Critical Realism on theoretical aspects of Mainstream Economics, to demonstrate the importance of ontology in the understanding of social reality, as well as of adoption of the proposal of an enlightened methodological pluralism, understanding the limits of the available methodological options.
